Finely finished fusion of history and present:
Tutima Glashütte introduces three new variants of the manufacture line Patria, made from titanium.
Home is more than a place. Home means origins, traditions, and values. It shapes identity and accompanies us wherever we go – today and tomorrow. Tutima Glashütte emphasizes this with three new Patria models.
The “Patria” name is also an obligation. So, each of these references embodies Glashütte’s finest watchmaking in every detail – most notably through the hand-wound Caliber Tutima 617, elaborately handcrafted from 171 individual parts at the Glashütte manufacture.
Glashütte Values – From the Outside …
When the first wristwatches emerged in Glashütte in the late 1920s, founder Dr. Ernst Kurtz reserved the hallmark of excellence “Tutima” exclusively for the highest-class models and most reliable calibers. At first, as a seal of quality, then as the brand name, this coinage is derived from the Latin adjective “tutus” meaning “safe” and “protected.” The watch manufacture also stays true to that name: So, for the first time, decades of titanium expertise of the brand take effect in the Patria line. The highly polished case with a contemporary diameter of 41 mm is entirely made of Titanium Grade 5, combining low weight, high scratch and corrosion resistance, as well as ideal skin friendliness. An elegantly curved flank protection surrounds the ergonomically shaped and fluted crown.
Protected beneath a domed, anti-reflective sapphire crystal, the dial reveals intricate details: Depending on the angle of reflection, the pyramid pattern provides a three-dimensional interplay of light and shadow. The fine groove pattern traces the circular path of the small second hand, while the external minute track visually frames the dial on a plane surface. Together with diamond-cut indices, the manually finished hands with white luminous material integrate harmoniously into the design, glowing blue in the dark. The dial not only shows hours, minutes, and seconds but also the historic logo from the founding period of the brand nearly one hundred years ago.
… to the Core
Tradition, history, and mechanical competence come alive in each of the 21,600 hourly vibrations of the manual-winding in-house movement Tutima 617. The lovingly finished movement can be observed through the sapphire crystal on the case back: The typical three-quarter-plate with Glashütte ribbing, beveling by hand as well as its ruby bearings set in screwed gold chatons unmistakably reflects the tradition-steeped origin. The pallet fork, specially manufactured in the Glashütte atelier, transmit the energy of the gear train to the balance, providing the heartbeat of the movement. The balance itself is also produced with precise craftsmanship: The watchmakers manually bend the Breguet overcoil with a specifically calculated terminal curve before it is inserted as part of the free-sprung oscillation system. First, meticulously assembled, decorated, and regulated entirely by hand, it is later the fingertips of the wearer that provide the manual-winding movement with the necessary energy. When fully wound, it offers a power reserve of 65 hours.
A Harmonious Triad
Depending on its color composition, each of the three Patria references offers its own distinct aesthetics: The variant with an anthracite dial and black calfskin strap features clear contrasts, emphasizing the contours of the watch. The Patria with a graphite-toned dial and sheepskin strap exudes a technical, modern character. Meanwhile, the version with a silver-white dial and light brown sheepskin strap conveys warm and elegant refinement.
All three models have their excellent overall impression of design and haptics in common, completed by superbly crafted, hand-sewn straps with titanium pin buckle.
Tutima deliberately bestowed the name Patria on this line. True to the heritage of its Glashütte home, the manufacture demonstrates that tradition is a tribute to the past – and a promise for the future.
