Tutima Glashütte has combined two of the brand’s core elements in the most beautiful form: in one unique chronograph, the new Flieger Legacy T5 unites Tutima Glashütte’s titanium expertise and its know-how in the genre of pilot’s watches. Available with a dial in cool blue or subtle black and with a classic leather wristband or a sporty titanium bracelet, this new chronograph has an elegant, matt grey, shimmering, lightweight yet extremely robust case made of Titanium Grade 5.
This new model introduces the high-tech metal to the successful Flieger family for the first time. Decades ago, Tutima Glashütte became one of the first watch manufacturers to use this unusual metal, when the brand chose titanium for the case of the pioneering Tutima NATO Chronograph. The brand perfected the sophisticated processing of titanium in its own manufactory. The Grade 5 Titanium chosen for the new Flieger Chronograph is approximately 40% lighter than steel, antiallergenic, antimagnetic, extremely scratch-resistant and – last but not least – corrosion-resistant and insensitive to salt water and acids. Thanks to these properties, the watch is ideal for daily use on land, on water and – as befits its name – in the air.
Tutima has been setting standards in this field since the legendary Tutima Pilot’s Chronograph from the 1940s, and this new timepiece seamlessly continues that grand tradition. Like its renowned forebears, the current model offers excellent readability even in challenging lighting conditions. The legibility is optimized by an antireflective, 2.2-mm thick, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal in combination with a characteristic pilot’s triangle at the “12”, along with luminescent Super-LumiNova® coating on numerals, the hour-hand and the minute-hand. A gaze through the sapphire crystal in the back of the titanium case, which has been pressure-tested to ten atmospheres, discovers tried-and-tested self-winding Calibre T310 with the Glashütte-based manufactory’s characteristic gold-seal on its rotor.
The underside of the high-quality Horween leather strap with light-coloured stitching matches the colour of the dial. Like the titanium strap, it too is secured by a practical folding clasp. The Flieger Legacy T5 is available with a leather strap and with a titanium bracelet.
